A total of <strong data-start=\"939\" data-end=\"950\">69 eyes<\/strong> were examined and compared with results from normal emmetropic eyes and eyes treated with LASIK.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1087\" data-end=\"1090\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"1092\" data-end=\"1115\">\ud83d\udc41\ufe0f <strong data-start=\"1100\" data-end=\"1115\">Key Results<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"1116\" data-end=\"2211\">\n<li data-start=\"1116\" data-end=\"1418\">\n<p data-start=\"1118\" data-end=\"1418\"><strong data-start=\"1118\" data-end=\"1141\">Visual Acuity (VA):<\/strong><br data-start=\"1141\" data-end=\"1144\" \/>At <strong data-start=\"1149\" data-end=\"1170\">distance and near<\/strong>, SILK eyes had <strong data-start=\"1186\" data-end=\"1200\">similar VA<\/strong> to both emmetropic and LASIK eyes.<br data-start=\"1235\" data-end=\"1238\" \/>At <strong data-start=\"1243\" data-end=\"1269\">intermediate distances<\/strong>, SILK eyes performed <strong data-start=\"1291\" data-end=\"1331\">significantly better than LASIK eyes<\/strong>, and their VA was comparable to emmetropic eyes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1420\" data-end=\"1754\">\n<p data-start=\"1422\" data-end=\"1754\"><strong data-start=\"1422\" data-end=\"1444\">Refractive Errors:<\/strong><br data-start=\"1444\" data-end=\"1447\" \/>SILK eyes showed <strong data-start=\"1466\" data-end=\"1513\">higher postoperative cylinder (astigmatism)<\/strong> at all distances compared with LASIK eyes (statistically significant).<br data-start=\"1584\" data-end=\"1587\" \/>The <strong data-start=\"1593\" data-end=\"1650\">proportion of eyes with mild residual spherical error<\/strong> after SILK was closer to that of emmetropic eyes than LASIK eyes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1756\" data-end=\"1967\">\n<p data-start=\"1758\" data-end=\"1967\"><strong data-start=\"1758\" data-end=\"1787\">Higher Order Aberrations:<\/strong><br data-start=\"1787\" data-end=\"1790\" \/>Overall induction of higher order aberrations after SILK was <strong data-start=\"1853\" data-end=\"1864\">minimal<\/strong>, and aberration levels were mostly comparable across the groups.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1969\" data-end=\"2211\">\n<p data-start=\"1971\" data-end=\"2211\"><strong data-start=\"1971\" data-end=\"1990\">Depth of Field:<\/strong><br data-start=\"1990\" data-end=\"1993\" \/>The data suggest that SILK eyes may have a <strong data-start=\"2038\" data-end=\"2063\">larger depth of field<\/strong>, likely contributing to better <strong data-start=\"2095\" data-end=\"2118\">intermediate vision<\/strong> without compromising distance or near visual outcomes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr data-start=\"2213\" data-end=\"2216\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"2218\" data-end=\"2240\">\ud83d\udccc <strong data-start=\"2225\" data-end=\"2240\">Conclusions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"2241\" data-end=\"2815\">\n<li data-start=\"2241\" data-end=\"2465\">\n<p data-start=\"2243\" data-end=\"2465\"><strong data-start=\"2243\" data-end=\"2297\">SILK surgery provides excellent visual performance<\/strong>, with <strong data-start=\"2304\" data-end=\"2350\">comparable or superior intermediate vision<\/strong> compared to LASIK and outcomes closely resembling natural (emmetropic) eyes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2466\" data-end=\"2649\">\n<p data-start=\"2468\" data-end=\"2649\"><strong data-start=\"2468\" data-end=\"2492\">Nomogram adjustments<\/strong> for spherical correction were effective, and zero cylinder adjustment appeared to support better intermediate results.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2650\" data-end=\"2815\">\n<p data-start=\"2652\" data-end=\"2815\">The procedure induced <strong data-start=\"2674\" data-end=\"2710\">minimal higher order aberrations<\/strong>, confirming its <strong data-start=\"2727\" data-end=\"2776\">predictability and quality of vision outcomes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Title: An objective assessment of vision performance at different reading distances after smooth incision lenticular keratomileusis (SILK) for myopia \u2013 Scientific Reports (2025)Authors: Rohit Shetty, Pooja Khamar, Raghav Narasimhan, Ritika Mullick, Anushree Bhatkal, Anisha Ramesh &amp;
